NFT MUSIC VIDEO ART COLLECTIONS ARE THE NEW LPS FOR THIS IMPORTANT REASON
Do you Remember The Day?
Remember when we stood in line back in the day to buy that new release of our favorite band’s LP? Pitching a tent on the street at midnight in a long line of hopeful teenagers outside of the Tower Records? Well, those days are long gone. And so are all my LPS. I gave them all to Goodwill years ago when the world went digital.

You see everything changed when digital music and the internet made it totally unnecessary to haul my record collection from apartment to apartment. All I had to do was pay my $19.99 a month for commercial-free unlimited music. A price far less than my monthly music budget of the past. Truth be told I regretted letting all those albums go. But, As luck would have it, a month later I met a DJ who later moved in with an enormous vinyl collection. It’s been thirteen years now, he’s still here and so is his record collection. And I, having learned the error of my ways, never once worry about how much room that record collection takes up! But I digress….

The Shift That Changed It All
What in the world has this MAJOR shift in how we consume music done to the artists and musicians who actually create the music? The wish and the hope for the artist at the beginning of this digital revolution was that the digitizing of music and the streaming services that followed would open more freedom and more direct royalties to the artist than the old system founded in old grandfather Vinyl LPS and CDS.
But, as we have already established in previous rants, streaming services get the lion’s share and the artist still gets a pittance for their efforts. So, in a really harsh reality, artists have simply traded one thing for another thing for the same or less amount of pennies per album sale.
You need to make these mistakes as an artist!

We were buying ARTIFACTS and didn’t get it…
The other day after thinking about all of this, I started getting nostalgic about all my vinyl I so happily dropped off at the thrift store years ago. I realized something important. One reason we bought LPS back in the day was that we were not buying music, because music we could just listen to on the radio. We were buying an ARTIFACT. A real ARTIFACT that gave us status and connection within our music communities as both a serious and intelligent fan, a smart collector and a valued peer artist.
Well, as I said, digital music and the internet changed all of that along with making the practice of owning an ARTIFACT, a piece of something revolutionary as obsolete, but, terribly missed.

The LP Artifact of the FUTURE
Then we discovered, not long ago, a strange new technology (like when CDS came out) called an NFT Music Video that opened up lots of possibilities for rebirthing the old ways into a new and infinitely better system.
So why are NFT Music Videos the new collectible LPS? In a way, the concept of the NFT Music Video Collection as the new LP taps into something primal: the human need to connect through art and music, a sense of belonging to a community and a sense of being a part of the art and the artist’s intimate life. Only with NFT Music Video Collections as opposed to the old vinyl, the artist retains a real value for what was created, the fan can still enjoy the art with the option to eventually own the Artifact and the smart and savvy collector will understand that in the future their NFT Music Video Collection will be the ARTIFACT of the future.

There has never been this much potential for artists.
But the most important reason of all that the NFT Music Video is so important is that artistic power and creative control is in the hands of the artist for the first time with this much potential. Sure, there have always been pathways for the Independent Artist to explore without being enslaved to a record company. But, never has there been a potential for this much expansion and true unleashed creative freedom.
